Tybee Island Beach Bum Parade
May 16, 2014 (Friday - 6:30)
This is NOT like your ordinary parade...like most parades, there are floats pulled behind cars and trucks. BUT(!)..unlike most parades the floats are often trailers or boats filled with water-throwing paraphernalia. The spectators, lined up along the parade route on Butler Avenue, are armed with buckets, squirt guns, hoses and their water-throwing paraphernalia. What results is an all-out water war for fun loving beach bums of all ages. This parade kicks off the summer at Tybee.
(My cottage is no longer available for this weekend for any year. You can thank the parents that rented the cottage for their KIDS and the kids friends to party all weekend in 2012 for that.)

July 3rd Independence Day Fireworks
July 3, 2014 (Thursday - 9:15pm)
Tybee’s annual celebration of America’s birthday. This is one of Tybee’s busiest days of the year and the island fills up fast. The show starts around dark (around 9:15pm). The fireworks are staged on the pier, but they are easily viewed from any of Tybee’s eastern beaches. The best way to do this is by staying on the island for this holiday time and walking to the beach to see them. Traffic getting off the island afterwards and on the Tybee Highway is a nightmare.
